Bridge Broadband, a U.K. broadband operator, is looking to step into the breach after a number of customers lost satellite broadband services in Scotland. Ouranous Networks/Aramiska customers who have lost connections can now look to Bridge Broadband for help as it offers a support package including free hardware for some sites.

Bridge Broadband general manager, Keith Fergie commented, “It looks like a lot of customers will be left high and dry and for many satellite customers Internet access has become their primary business channel and a vital home and community resource. From a regional perspective it does leave a considerable hole in Scotland because of the work Ouranos/Aramiska has been doing with Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which from our perspective in Perth would be a great shame to lose the momentum.”

Posting on its website, Ouranos Networks announced it “is experiencing a general network problem that affects all the services we are offering. This incident is directly related to the services that we share with Belgacom. We are very sorry about the inconvenience this is causing for your activities. We can assure you that our technical team is working very hard to resolve the current issue as soon as possible.”
