DigiTurk Looks To OpenTV, Prepares For HD
DigiTurk, a Turkish satellite pay-TV operator, is accelerating plans to offer high-definition television (HDTV) services in Turkey. DigiTurk will team with OpenTV, which will provide the HD platform.
DigiTurk will deploy OpenTV’s high-definition Personal Video Recorder (PVR) technology. The high-definition solution leverages OpenTV’s digital television software, OpenTV Core 2.0 and OpenTV PVR 2.0. With launch expected for the first half of 2007, the deployment of OpenTV’s software and services will enable DigiTurk to deliver an array of digital television services to its 900,000 interactive subscribers.
These services will include Push Video-on-Demand (VoD), enabling subscribers to select, download and store feature films and television shows directly on the set-top box hard drive. The Push VoD application will be updated frequently with a comprehensive choice of programming.
