L-3 Communications announced that its Telemetry-West division won a $9.9 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide next-generation encryption services for satellite telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C).

The Space TT&C Cryptographic Modernization Aerospace Vehicle Equipment Increment 1 program is designed to acquire new equipment to meet communication-security requirements for future satellite programs as part of the National Security Agency‘s (NSA) initiative to modernize the U.S. Department of Defense‘s cryptographic devices.

The contract, including delivery of the basic system and integration, will be completed in April 2008, L-3 said.
