JAXA Sets Solar-B Launch
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) scheduled the launch of its Solar-B satellite for Sept. 24 aboard an M-5 rocket from the Uchinoura Space Center. Solar-B, developed by JAXA and Mitsubishi Electric Corp., will carry a solar optical telescope, X-ray telescope and an imaging spectrometer, is designed to study the sun’s corona. NASA and the U.K.’s Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council also contributed to the mission.
