The Syracuse 3B satellite arrived in Kourou, French Guiana, for its scheduled Aug. 11 launch aboard an Ariane 5 rocket, Alcatel Alenia Space announced.

The next-generation French military communications satellite, built for the French Defense procurement agency (DGA), will make up the Syracuse 3 communications system along with the Syracuse 3A, placed into orbit in October.

Both spacecrafts are based on Alcatel Alenia Space’s Spacebus platform and carry a payload that operates in the super high frequency and extremely high frequency bands.
