The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) awarded a subsidiary of Nortel Government Solutions a contract with an estimated value of $3 million for systems engineering and software development for ground systems supporting the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) weather satellites. Nortel will develop, test and deploy enhanced sensor processing systems for the existing satellites, which will help NOAA improve detection of severe weather and natural disasters.
