Sea Launch Places Galaxy 16 In Orbit
Sea Launch lofted Panamsat‘s Galaxy 16 satellite into orbit, the company announced June 18. The Zenit-3SL rocket lifted off from Sea Launch’s floating platform at the equator at 3:50 a.m. EDT. The satellite, built by Space Systems/Loral, is located at 99º West and will replace Galaxy 4R in providing data and video services to the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and Canada.
