The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources signed a contract with MDA Geospatial Services to provide more than 120,000 square kilometers of Quickbird satellite imagery, Digitalglobe announced May 17. MDA is the Canadian business partner of Digitalglobe.

The imagery will be used to support the Land Information Ontario project, which provides government agencies and the public with geographic information about the province of Ontario. The imagery will be collected throughout a two- to three-year period, and will cover eastern, central and selected northern areas of Ontario.

Financial details of the contract were not released.
