Intelsat Ltd. CEO David McGlade believes the operator’s prospects for revenue growth in Asia are good, although it make take time for the operator to realize its potential in the region.

“China, India and Russia are big markets with big growth potential,” McGlade told Satellite Today. “We would love to have them completely open so we could offer services more effectively. We did sign a deal several months ago with APT where we have a marketing agreement with them where we sell each other’s capacity and we did that to help strengthen our position in Asia.”

In terms of his overall analysis in how the operator is performing internationally, McGlade added, “We are seeing good growth in Africa and the Middle East. We have seen solid orders come out of Europe. North America has been strong, especially with Ku capacity. Latin America and Asia have been tough.”
