JSAT Corp.‘s JCSAT-9 satellite was lofted into orbit April 12 aboard a Sea Launch Zenit-3SL rocket. Lift-off occurred at 7:30 p.m. EDT and early data indicate the spacecraft is accurately positioned and in working condition, Sea Launch announced.

The spacecraft, built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, will be placed at 132º East, where it joins nine JSAT spacecraft providing services to North America, Hawaii, Asia and Oceania.
