Premiere, the German pay-TV operator, is confident it will be a leader in terms of providing high-definition (HD) services. The operator, which has 3.5 million subscribers in Germany, launched its HD services in January.

Hans Seger, Premiere’s chief programming officer told Satellite Today, “We want to be a leader with an outstanding position on the HD landscape, offering a top HD service. By mid 2008, we expect to have some 500,000 HD subscribers. After the positive result of our field test and the very satisfactory launch of HD, we have every reason to be confident that our HD programs will prove to be very popular.”
