Space Communications Corp. Orders Qinetiq Interference Detection System
Japan’s Space Communications Corp. (SCC) purchased a satellite geolocation system from Qinetiq, which will allow SCC to identify and locate sources of interference to its satellites, Qinetiq announced Feb. 28.
Tokyo-based SCC provides services to a range of customers, including government departments, broadcasters and electricity companies, via its Superbird satellites.
“Satellite interference is a growing problem for both military and commercial operators and satID provides a rapid and accurate solution to that problem,” Nigel Smith, Qinetiq’s satID commercial director in the United States, said in a statement. “The system can help minimize disruption to services, enabling SCC to provide a better service to their customers and reduce the financial costs that interference brings.”
