Intelsat has been granted rights by the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency to operate the Intelsat Americas-8 (IA-8) satellite in the Brazilian market, the company announced Feb. 15.

IA-8, launched in June, employs six C-band and 12 Ku-band transponders that will be able to support broadcast content distribution, corporate VSATs and broadband applications, including high-speed Internet access, multicasting and streaming, in Brazil.
