Arinc Direct said it received an operational license from the Federal Communications Commission for its SKYLink by Arinc Direct satellite broadband service for business aircraft. The service delivers two-way broadband access service over North America via a Ku-band satellite operated by SKYLink partner and investor SES Americom. The specific satellite used by the SKYLink service was not disclosed. The license allows up to 1,000 aircraft to use SKYLink service over the continental United States. SKYLink delivers speeds of up to 3.5 megabits per second to the aircraft and rates of 128 kilobits per second from the aircraft. The service is distributed to users onboard corporate jets via wired or wireless networks.

Arinc Direct also announced that Gulfstream is the first customer to install SKYLink on its business aircraft. Gulfstream purchased the first 15 sets of SKYLink avionics to fill existing customer orders.
