Sea Launch Co. LLC said it successfully delivered the XM-3 satellite into orbit for XM Satellite Radio. The launch occurred Feb. 28 at 7:51 p.m. PST. It was the first Sea Launch mission in 2005. The satellite was sent into orbit on a Zenit-3SL rocket launched from Sea Launch’s Odyssey equatorial launch platform located at 154 degrees West in the Pacific Ocean. The company said a ground station in South Africa acquired XM-3’s first signal an hour after liftoff, as planned.
