The Arthur C. Clarke Foundation is referring interested parties wanting to contribute to the disaster relief efforts for those affected by the recent tsunami to several different organizations on its Web site http://www.clarkefoundation.org.

“We’ve had hundreds of direct inquiries offering supplies and cash donations,” Scott Chase, secretary of the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation told Satellite News. “We’ve had inquiries from physicians that want to know how they can get there and who the should report to. [We’ve also had the offer of a] fishing boat to be financed by a U.K.-based shipbuilder to be built in Sri Lanka and given to a worthy recipient there to help restart the local economy.”

Chase noted the foundation “was never set up to deal with this sort of emergency” and is therefore directing those interested in helping to three specific organizations that Clarke has put his seal of approval on: Oxfam and Care, which is supply relief to the entire region effected by the tsunami and Sarvodaya, which is providing disaster relief specifically to Sri Lanka.
