Orbcomm today said it inked an agreement with VeriChip Corp. to provide satellite and telecommunications services for applications, to be developed, with an implantable radio frequency identification (RFID) microchip. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies also will work together to develop and market new military, security and healthcare applications. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Orbcomm’s relationship with VeriChip provides yet another new and important industry that will use the Orbcomm satellite system and its ground infrastructure to transmit messages globally,” Orbcomm CEO Jerry Eisenberg said in a prepared statement.
