The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said Aug. 27 that PanAmSat Licensee Corp. has filed a request for a 180-day extension of its special temporary authority to operate the Galaxy 9 satellite’s tracking, telemetry and command payload at 90.9 degrees West longitude. With the extension, PanAmSat would be able to operate at that location until Feb. 9, 2005.
