Comtech Licenses Technology To Improve Bandwidth Efficiency

Comtech EF Data Corp., a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. [CMTL], licensed the DoubleTalk bandwidth compression system from Applied Signal Technology [APSG]. Daniel Enns, senior vice president at Comtech, told Satellite Today that the inclusion of this technology, while not altering the end-user experience per se, would benefit operations in two possible ways. It would allow terminal users to increase the data throughput or, if more throughput is not needed, it would allow users to reduce costs, as that data would be transferred through more efficient use of the bandwidth.
