PanAmSat Exec Is Confident About HD’s Future

PanAmSat [SPOT] is confident that high-definition TV (HDTV) will continue to be a major growth opportunity for the company. The operator already is a strong player in the HD arena, and it plans to build on this emerging niche still further. Mike Antonovich, PanAmSat’s senior vice president of global sales and marketing, told Satellite Today, “In terms of the new channels we contracted for over the last 12 months, I would wager about 60 percent of them have been HD. A lot of exciting opportunities are still coming up.”
