Thomson [TMS] executives said their company will aid DirecTV [DTV] by “significantly” expanding use of Thomson’s Grass Valley network technologies to help subscribers watch their local terrestrial broadcast channels via satellite. DirecTV plans to offer local-channel service in a minimum of 130 markets by year’s end, compared with 64 local markets now.
