V-One Corp. [VONE] officials said today their company will introduce its “on demand” VPN-over-satellite service through the via its broadband satellite resellers. According to V-One, the service is built around its SmartSat application-layer SSL VPN product, and it offers throughput that is five to 15 times faster than when using IPSec products. This addresses latency problems experienced by IPSec and other network-layer VPN protocols.

V-One and Hughes Network Systems will be co-marketing SmartSat to federal-government customers.
