Tandberg Television [TAT] said Interactive Technologies deployed its video compression and DTH digital broadcasting system, which will provide the backbone for Bulgaria’s new direct to home satellite system. The system uses Tandberg’s video-compression technology to achieve bandwidth and business-model efficiencies that will enable Interactive Technologies to provide multi-channel television service.

“By implementing the latest, fully integrated technology, a new broadcaster can achieve a strong return on investment and leapfrog competitors by offering services such as impulse pay-per-view, gaming, voting and other new applications that operators with legacy technology cannot provide efficiently,” said Roger Bolton, director of Tandberg’s satellite segment. “The system we have installed for Interactive Technologies means that its Digital DTH service is one of the most technically advanced in Europe.”
