Eutelsat‘s broadband ambitions have been significantly enhanced through a recent agreement with pan-European Internet Service Provider (ISP) Tiscali. According to Antonio Arcidiacono, director of OPENSKY at Eutelsat, the deal represents a turning point for the company. “The agreement and the partnership with Tiscali is interesting for us for many reasons. Firstly, we launched OPENSKY a few months ago, and up until now, we have been signing distribution agreements with medium-sized ISPs. This is the first time we are marrying with a company that has a similar approach to the market that we have. They are pan-European. We are pan-European. They are present locally in 14 countries in Europe. It is very important for us to have this large ISP with almost eight million customers as a partner.” Tiscali will provide its European subscribers with one-way satellite, high-speed Internet access through Eutelsat’s OPENSKY platform.

An exclusive in-depth interview with Antonio Arcidiacono can be found in the June 3 issue of Interspace. For more information about subscribing to PBI Media’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at http://www.telecomweb.com/catalog
