Hughes Network Systems (HNS) and Net2Phone are partnering to offer what they describe as the first end-to-end satellite voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) service.

The service is tailored as a cost-saving opportunity for small businesses and home offices with international and long distance calling needs, officials of both companies said. Customers already using DirecWay for their high-speed Internet connection can add voice services for minimal start-up costs and huge long-term value, they added. The service will be rolled out on a broad scale to international companies.
