Telesat Canada and Storm Internet Services, an Ottawa, Canada-based subsidiary of International Datacasting [Toronto: IDC], are teaming to provide satellite-based broadband services to rural and remote areas of Canada. The township of North Stormont with 6,500 residents and business owners will be the first municipality to benefit from this joint agreement.

North Stormont’s broadband services combine Telesat’s satellite technology with Storm’s last-mile terrestrial wireless service to deliver high-speed Internet access to rural communities. The high-speed Internet service system will operate from the town of Crysler in the Province of Ontario.
