ABC News has agreed to purchase On2 Technologies‘ [AMEX: ONT] Laptop News Gathering (LNG) system to enable its correspondents covering the Iraqi crisis to transmit reports via satellite.

The unit of Walt Disney [NYSE: DIS] subsidiary ABC is buying 15 LNG software licenses that will be installed onto laptops. Two terminals will be placed in London and New York. The ABC News order comes just days after the BBC invested in 13 LNG licenses from On2 (Clifton Park, N.Y.) to give its journalists in the Persian Gulf the capability to transmit their reports to London via the Internet or satellite phone.
