Despite withdrawing from the bidding for European satellite operator Eutelsat, PanAmSat [Nasdaq: SPOT] remains interested in expanding its European presence and still could link up with Eutelsat in some form at a later date. PanAmSat CEO Joe Wright told SATELLITE TODAY: “Europe is still of interest of us. But, we are not going to pursue it at all costs. We are very interesting in expanding our European presence. We have already announced a joint venture with BT [NYSE: BTY]. We would love to expand our scope and interest in that JV, as well as talk to others that are in the European market.”
