Digital Angel Corp. [AMEX: DOC] has unveiled the first in a series of miniaturized Global Positioning System (GPS) locator products for mobile connectivity to people, pets and assets.

The device enables the location of a person, pet or asset to be tracked via GPS mapping software over dial-up or high-speed Internet connections at a Website or by calling Digital Angel’s (South St. Paul, Minn.) AlertCall center. The device combines a GPS chip set, modem and antenna in a single device weighing less than 3.5 ounces, making it substantially smaller than the company’s current two-piece product. The company said it is expected to retail for under $300.
