Musang Valley Plantation (MVP) is to use space-based technology to drive and implement sustainable practices and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The Malaysian integrated plantation company will use advanced Earth observation (EO) data and analytics solutions provided by SC Solutions. It announced the deal, Jan. 29.

Under the agreement, SC Solutions will work closely with MVP to understand its operations and assess the greenhouse gas absorptions of the plantations in the past years using the I-Sat platform, in addition to providing annual reports to MVP detailing the results of greenhouse gas storage efforts. Transforming vast swaths of raw data into actionable insights by leveraging advanced machine learning techniques, including deep learning and neural networks, I-Sat’s precision analytics aim to offer a deep dive into EO data. The platform’s AI analytics, hyperspectral capabilities, and intuitive visualization techniques aim to make complex EO data comprehensible, accessible, and actionable.

“We are very excited to be working with MVP to drive sustainable plantation practices in Southeast Asia and address environmental challenges facing the region. We look forward to helping MVP reinvent and modernize the plantation industry in the long term through the transformative power of our space-based systems and infrastructure,” Cliff Beek, CEO of SC Solutions, said in a statement.
