[Satellite Today 07-20-09] Lockheed Martin submitted its phase B proposal to provide advanced navigation accuracy, integrity and mission effects solutions for the U.S. Air Force’s Global Positioning System (GPS) Advanced Control Segment (OCX), Lockheed Martin announced July 17.
Lockheed Martin’s proposal focuses on navigation improvements with the GPS 2A, 2R, 2R-M and 2F satellites. The company is part of a Northrop Grumman-led GPS OCX team.
The system presents “a significant battlefield advantage for American warfighters as well as better performance for worldwide commercial and civilian users," said Dan Allen, sector vice president and general manager for Northrop Grumman’s intelligence systems division, in a statement.
