[SatelliteTODAY 02-25-13] Europe has launched the biennial Satellite Broadband for European Regions (SABER) project aimed at bringing broadband coverage to the estimated 10 million European households that still do not have access to it.
CSI Piedmont coordinates the project with 26 partners including Astrium, Eutelsat Communications, SES Broadband Services and 21 regional bodies, as well as public and private ICT companies across thirteen countries.
With 510,000 euros from the European Union as part of the ICT Policy Support Program, the SABER project aims to provide local, regional and national authorities with guidelines for the use of satellite technologies and to connect areas not covered, thus achieving the objectives set out in the European Digital Agenda, Europe 2020.
