[Satellite TODAY 03-01-12] Harris Corp. will upgrade Zee News’ production and playout facility in New Delhi, India using a complete, integrated Harris broadcast solution, the companies confirmed Feb. 29.
The key components of the Harris offering include multiple Nexio Amp servers and Nexio Farad high-performance online storage systems to improve bandwidth and storage capabilities across Zee News’ production workflow. The additional bandwidth of the combined Nexio solution aims to allow Zee News to fulfill the language needs of its regional audiences across India by repurposing content with different audio tracks.
Zee News became India’s first 24-hour news channel when it was launched in 1999. “We chose the Harris Farad storage solution as it will greatly improve the program turnaround time,” Zee News Vice President of Technology Y.P. Singh said in a statement. “By having our assets stored in a single location and using the Harris global proxy workflow, our journalists will have instant and simultaneous access to low-resolution proxy material. This provides the browse and editing speed necessary to meet the demands of our fast-paced news programming, while simultaneously adding the highest levels of digital asset protection.”
