[Satellite TODAY Insider 01-09-12] LightSquared has entered into a strategic wholesale partnership with the ISP Store, an Internet service aggregator and reseller to small- and medium-sized providers, the 4G LTE network operator confirmed Jan. 6.
As part of the agreement, the ISP Store will offer a range of LightSquared’s 4G-LTE network services to its customer base. The IP Store said it would work with multiple backbone services to provide connectivity at competitive rates.
IP Store President and CEO William Calamia said that by aggregating various Internet access services with access to the LightSquared network, the partnership would enable customers to generate recurring revenue.
“LightSquared’s business model ensures that we can provide our customers with affordable access to state-of-the-art wireless technology. With LightSquared’s network, our extensive roster of customers can now offer their nearly three million end-users affordable wireless services that will boost their ability to succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” Calamia said in a statement.
The ISP Store represents LightSquared’s 35th wholesale customer since the company’s inception. The 4G LTE network operator has recently been working to alleviate interference concerns with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and various GPS device manufacturers.
LightSquared Chairman and CEO Sanjiv Ahuja called the Internet and wireless service provider communities an essential channel for achieving the company’s goal of bringing broadband service to 260 million households in the United States.
“By introducing private-label wireless solutions based on LightSquared’s network, the ISP Store is positioning itself to be a leading wholesale provider of all Internet products and services. We look forward to partnering with The ISP Store to help small- and medium-sized providers across the country compete on a level playing field,” Ahuja said in a statement.
