[Satellite TODAY 11-03-11] Satellite teleport service provider SatLink Communications is augmenting its presence in Africa by launching a new Multi-Channel-Per-Carrier (MCPC) platform on Spacecom’s Amos-5 satellite, SatLink announced Nov. 2.
The company will use Amos-5’s Pan-African C-beam to provide the platform to international and local African broadcasters. The platform will have a Tier 1 broadcast neighborhood including leading European, American and Asian channels. SatLink also said it is offering a full complement of playout services to clients utilizing the MCPC platform.
“Expanding operations in Africa with our new Amos-5 C-band platform together with our strategic location and our global satellite and fiber network makes
SatLink a true Gateway to Africa,” SatLink CEO David Hochner said in a statement. “With our platform taking advantage of Amos-5’s pan-African C-band reach, we will meet the needs of this growing market.”

CLARIFICATION – A previous version of SatLink CEO David Hochner’s quote should have read: “Expanding operations in Africa with our new Amos-5 C-band platform together with our strategic location and our global satellite and fiber network makes SatLink a true Gateway to Africa.”
