[Satellite TODAY 03-17-11] SES has selected International Launch Services (ILS) to launch the SES-6 satellite on a Proton rocket in 2013, ILS announced March 16.
The SES-6 mission is the sixth under the operator’s multi-launch agreement signed between ILS SES’s satellite procurement and leasing company in the Isle of Man in June 2007. Three other SES missions are scheduled on the ILS Proton in 2011 and 2012 under the MLA. ILS also will launch SES’s QuetzSat-1 this summer.
SES-6 is being built on Astrium’s Eurostar 3000 platform and is expected to carry 43 C-band and 43 Ku-band transponders to serve SES’s existing cable-television customers from the 319.5 degrees East.
