[Satellite TODAY 07-07-10] Kudelski Group subsidiary Nagravision was selected by Spanish broadband communication and entertainment provider ONO to provide security technology supporting its next generation, hybrid television platform, Nagravision announced July 6.
The broadband/broadcast content delivery platform aims to combine traditional pay-TV services with Internet connectivity and will be delivered over ONO’s fiber-optic network. Nagravision will provide ONO with conditional access to secure all of its next generation services, which are expected to feature existing value-added services such as video-on-demand and pay-per-view as well as new and advanced PVR functionality.
The Nagravision conditional access technology will be integrated in all next generation set-top-boxes deployed by ONO, including both PVR platforms and traditional non-PVR units.
ONO expects to launch the next-generation television platform in 2011, initially serving ONO’s fiber-optic network customers.
