[Satellite TODAY 04-14-10] Value-added content protection solutions provider Nagravision has formed a business partnership with Korean DTH pat-TV service provider SkyLife that will see the companies combine technological efforts to roll out expanded 3-D services to consumers, the companies announced April 13.
Nagravision will license its original 3-D content, including full features, sponsored and shor-form programming to SkyLife, which has invested $4.4 million to extend its 3-D capabilities by installing high-end 3D production systems in May. Nagravision said it is developing high quality real-time 2-D to 3-D conversion technology for the project.
Nagravision also will provide SkyLife with a full-push video-on-demand solution, which aims to enable SkyLife to offer a 3-D home movie rental service to its subscribers in 2010. SkyLife is also planning to add two more 3-D channels to its offering by 2012.
SkyLife will receive 3-D field production consulting services from Nagravision, which range from management of live event productions, to post-production and extensive training through Nagravision’s 3-D Academy program.
