[Satellite TODAY 04-05-10] Globalstar subsidiary Spot LLC has partnered with RaceTracker to provide a safety and tracking solution to racing competitors at the 25th annual Sultan Marathon Des Sables adventure race in Morocco, Spot announced April 2.
    The Sultan Marathon Des Sables features international teams of co-ed athletes competing in a 200-kilometer race through the Moroccan Desert. The next generation Spot satellite GPS Messenger will be carried by 100 competitors in order for race organizers and fans to track their progress online.
    Due to the race’s remote location, the Spot Messenger also will provide competitors and race staff with satellite-based messaging and emergency communications, independent of mobile networks to assist with on-course safety.
