[Satellite TODAY 12-24-09] Satellite service provider TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has reached a legal settlement with mobile company Sybase 365 over patent infringement lawsuits filed by TCS against Mobile 365 in July 2006, TCS announced Dec. 23.
    Sybase acquired Mobile 365 in September 2006 for $425 million and renamed the company Skybase 365. TCS then filed suit against Sybase 365 in July 2009.
    Sybase will make a one-time payment of $23 million to TCS in exchange for a license in the TCS inter-carrier messaging family of patents. However, Sybase continues to dispute TCS’ allegations and does not admit any infringement.
    Other specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
