[Satellite Today 06-26-09] Boeing will record a $35 million charge in the 2009 second quarter related to the Sea Launch bankruptcy filing, Boeing said in a June 25 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
    In the event Boeing is unable to secure reimbursement from Sea Launch or its partners, Boeing could incur additional charges of up to $478 million, the company warned.
    Sea Launch Company LLC and Sea Launch Limited Partnership and subsidiaries filed voluntary petitions to reorganize under Chapter 11 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Sea Launch announced June 22. In the filing in Wilmington, Del., Sea Launch listed assets of between $100 million and $500 million against liabilities of between $500 million and $1 billion.
    Boeing and another Sea Launch partner are obligated under certain credit guarantees to make payments to certain creditors of Sea Launch in the event that Sea Launch does not make its loan payments, Boeing said in the filing.
