[Satellite Today 06-04-09] The Measat-3a commercial satellite has arrived at its launch site at Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and is in final preparations for a late June liftoff, Orbital Sciences announced June 2.
    Measat-3a, developed and built by Orbital under a contract awarded in 2005 by Measat Satellite Systems in Malaysia, will be launched into geosynchronous transfer orbit aboard a Land Launch rocket. The launch was delayed after it was damaged in August during crane operations at the launch complex.
    Originally designed to replace Measat-1 spacecraft, Measat-3a will be Measat’s fourth communications satellite, providing C-band communications services throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and Ku-band direct-to-home television broadcasting to Malaysia and Indonesia from an the 91.5 degrees East orbital slot.
