[Satellite Today 05-14-09] SES Americom-New Skies selected International Datacasting Corp. (IDC) to provide 200 of IDC’s SuperFlex SFX 3102 DVB-S/S2 receivers to SES customers upgrading to DVB-S2 IP platform offerings, IDC announced May 13.
SES’ IPsys platforms bypass terrestrial connections and their associated congestion points to provide high speed Internet directly to customers even in remote locations.
IDC’s SFX3102 is part of its SuperFlex family of products, which are used for a variety of global broadband multimedia applications.
"We put the [SFX3102] through its paces with both lab and over the air satellite testing, and we are very satisfied that it will enhance our IPsys IP trunking applications anywhere in the world,” said Chris Schram, vice president of platform operations for SES, in a statement.
Financial details of the order were not disclosed.
