[Satellite Today 05-12-09] German satellite service provider Atrexx launched X3, a triple-feature Ku-band iDirect platform on the Telstar 11N satellite serving the African continent, Atrexx announced May 11.
     X3, which is part of iDirect’s Evolution series DVB-S2 technology for data transmission and Internet connectivity, has been implemented and is operative. The platform’s features aim to open up new opportunities for Atrexx to improve support for a range of IP applications, the company said.
     Atrexx also will support the legacy iDirect Infiniti platform on Telstar 11N for existing sites, providing services for dedicated bandwidth and voice over IP. The company said that it will allow customers the ability to choose and switch between X3 and Infiniti.
