[Satellite Today 05-01-09] Eutelsat Communications launched its Tooway consumer Internet access service in the United Kingdom, the company announced April 30.
    Tooway, which aims to deliver speeds of 2 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 256 kilobits per second on the uplink, operates in Ku-band and is delivered using Eutelsat’s Eurobird 3 satellite at 33 degrees East.
    The service will be available from 29.99 British pounds ($44.14) per month and delivered via a network of certified local distributors, including Bentley Walker Satellite Internet Solutions, Avonline in Bristol, Satellite Solutions Worldwide in Oxfordshire and Remote Data Services in Perthshire, Scotland.
    In 2010, Eutelsat said it will expand the service with additional high speed Internet access up to 10 Mbps.
