[Satellite Today 03-23-09] NDS has opened a research and development facility in China, the company said March 20.
    NDS, a supplier of conditional access (CA) and middleware solutions to pay-TV operators, said its new facility in Shenzhen will focus primarily on the development of software for advanced middleware, customized electronic program guides and digital service capabilities as well as end-to-end solutions tailored to meet the needs of the Chinese pay-TV market.
     “Our increased presence in China will also allow Chinese CE (consumer electronics) and set-top box manufacturers to increase export revenues. This mirrors our approach in Korea, where we have supported Korean CE manufacturers for over eight years by providing them access to NDS’ global base of operators,” Sue Taylor, senior vice president and general manager of NDS Asia-Pacific, a said in a statement.
