[Satellite Today 03-19-09] Intelsat Ltd. reported 2008 fourth quarter revenues of $608.8 million and full-year revenues of $2.3 billion, the company announced March 18.
The operator also reported fourth quarter net losses of $524.2 million, which the company said includes non-cash charges of $326.8 million for orbital location impairments and $186.6 million for a loss on undesignated interest rate swaps. Net loss for the year was $1.1 billion.
The company’s full-year EBITDA was $916.8 million and Intelsat New Bermuda’s adjusted EBITDA was $1.8 billion, or 78 percent of revenue.
"Intelsat ended a strong year with the best revenue quarter in the company’s history. Revenue grew by 6 percent in the quarter and 8 percent for the full year, and we ended the year with $8.8 billion in backlog," Intelsat CEO Dave McGlade said in a statement. "These new opportunities are evident in our Network Services and Government sectors, where we’re enabling the launch of innovative mobility and maritime applications, and in our media business," he said.
