[Satellite Today 03-12-09] Thales Alenia Space has won a contract with JSC ISS-Reshetnev Co. to supply the Telkom-3 communications satellite payload, the company announced March 11.
ISS is the prime contractor and will build the satellite for Indonesian operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, one of Indonesia’s main telcos. ISS serves as the prime contractor providing its Express-1000H platform and Thales Alenia Space will be the communications payload supplier. The satellite will be integrated and tested at ISS premises in Russia.
The Telkom-3 satellite will carry 32 C-band and 10 Ku-band transponders and expand the operator’s capacity from 118 degrees East orbital location in C-band and will offer new transponders in Ku-band with three coverage areas over Southeast Asia for DTH and GSM/Internet backhaul services.
The satellite is projected to launch in 2011.
