[Satellite Today 02-24-09] Thuraya has appointed Fonenet as a new distributor for its ThurayaIP service, Thuraya announced Feb. 22.
    Fonenet, a telecom solution provider based in the United Kingdom, will target market segments such as oil and gas operations and NGOs offices as well as private customers. The move follows the signing of a commercial partnership between Thuraya and Fonenet last week
    “ThurayaIP bridges the existing gap for several customers who want high-speed data but are located in areas where there is no communication infrastructure. It is a very practical solution that incorporates a variety of features that satisfy the sophisticated demands of our target market,” Aid Saleh Alsaieq, managing director of Fonenet, said in a statement.
