[Satellite Today 02-04-09] Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS) sold and installed its first Iridium-based compliant Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) system to a French flag ship, CLS announced Feb. 3.
CLS and Iridium also delivered corresponding LRIT conformance test certificates on behalf of the flag administration to meet the new LRIT regulations effective since Dec. 31.
In November, the European Maritime Safety Agency awarded CLS the contract for the provision and operation of the European Union LRIT Data Center as well as the associated application service provider and CSP functions.
